Discovery Day, December 2018: affair and addiction exposed, life in free‑fall.
Within a couple of months I was lucky enough to find a wonderful CSAT therapist and a small betrayal‑trauma group—two anchors that kept me breathing while I set hard boundaries and moved out with our one‑year‑old.
Back then I didn’t have language for what I was doing; I was simply fighting for safety, options, and sanity.
Only later did I learn about Hope Theory, a framework that perfectly describes what happened:
Goal – feel safe enough to think.
Pathways – legal advice, support group, “intentional time apart.”
Agency – small daily choices that proved I still had power.
Those steps eventually opened the door for my husband’s genuine recovery and for us—now a family of four—to rebuild on honest ground. I unpack the full journey in the Spring issue of Turning Point Magazine.
Why share this with you?
Because partners deserve a roadmap, not platitudes. My experience pushed me to co‑found Room to Heal—a structured residence that gives you space and safety while your spouse does the heavy lifting of change.
